Pennsylvania is a state which is home to many firsts. Here are just a few: first baseball stadium, first automobile service station, first computer, first daily newspaper, first piano, first zoological garden, first president mansion, and first American Flag. It is also home to the Chocolate Capital of the USA, the Mushroom Capital of the World, the Christmas Tree Capital of the World, and the Liberty Bell.
Did you know it is also home to Philadelphia? Yes, I did too, but I did not know it was once the capital of the United States! I might need to go back to high school to study American History! Pennsylvania is also famous for its thriving wineries, water ice, soft pretzels, TastyKakes, and today's meal of choice: the Philly Cheese Steak.
Philly Cheesesteak Sandwich with Garlic Mayo:
1 cup mayonnaise
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 pound beef round steak, cut into thin strips
2 green bell peppers, cut into 1/4 inch strips
2 onions, sliced into rings
salt and pepper to taste
4 hoagie rolls, split lengthwise and toasted - I only made 3 today
1 (8 ounce) package shredded mozzarella cheese
1 teaspoon dried oregano
In a small bowl, combine mayonnaise,
Garlic,Mix well, cover, and refrigerate.
Sauté beef until lightly browned,
Stir in green pepper,
Season with salt and pepper.
Sauté vegetables until tender, remove from heat.
When ready, put bottom bun on plate first.
Carefully flip over top bun, and complete sandwich.
Slice and serve with chips!
Or make a tray for a crowd!
