Oh No...Ohio!

Ohio is our next state to visit on our Staycation.  Since I was raised a Michigan fan, this was not a state I was looking forward to exploring.  However, we are here so this is the run down.  Ohio is home to 13 state universities, one of which being Ohio State University.  OSU shares it mascot with the state tree.  Maybe we should be making buckeyes today, but I think not...too close to football season!

A few other fun facts about Ohio:  home to first traffic light, first ambulance service was established there, and the pop-top can was invented there. Ohio is home to the rubber capital of the world, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and Neil Armstrong.  Most impressive was the fact that 50% of the United States population lives within a 500 mile radius of Columbus, the state capital.

Amish Chicken:
6 -8 chicken pieces - cleaned
1 cup flour
2 teaspoons garlic powder
1 tablespoon salt
1 teaspoon pepper
2 teaspoons paprika
1 1/2 cups heavy whipping cream
1 1/2 cups water

In a shallow dish (or Tupperware if you're Chad), mix garlic powder, salt, pepper, and paprika.

Dredge the chicken pieces in the flour and spices.

Be sure to coat well on both sides.

Arrange skin side up in a baking dish.

In a small bowl (or measuring cup), mix the cream and water.

 Pour over the chicken.

Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour or until the skin is golden brown.

Serve over mashed potatoes, pasta, or rice.  This is a quick dish that serves a lot of people!
