Big Apple Appetite (New York)

We finally made it to New York!  A great state with outstanding attractions, landmarks, and LOTS of people!  New York is home to Broadway, the Statue of Liberty, Empire State Building, Times Square, Rockefeller Center, Brooklyn Bridge, etc.  The list can go on forever!  Here a few less famous facts:  the first American chess tournament was held in NY,  it has the longest toll road in the USA,  and it is home to the world's smallest church.

 

New York is a fabulous place to visit during Christmas but its food options are always wonderful = day or night! Here is the list of foods invented or alleged to be invented there:

Lots of things to choose from; however, today we are going to try our luck with a New York Cheesecake - deli style!  Wish us luck...

New York Cheesecake:

15 graham crackers                                                                           

2 tablespoons butter                                                   

4 (8 ounce) packages cream cheese                                                                     

1 1/2 cups white sugar                                                                     

3/4 cup milk                                                                     

4 eggs                                                                     

1 cup sour cream                                                                     

1 tablespoon vanilla extract                                                                     

1/4 cup all-purpose flour

 

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grab a 9 inch spring form pan.  Grease it using cooking spray.  Set aside until ready to use.

Put graham crackers in a gallon size zip lock.

Use a rolling pin to crush them finely.

Put butter in a measuring cup and melt in microwave.

Pour butter into zip lock and mix up with your hands.

Pour crumb mixture into bottom of spring form pan.

Press firmly with your fingers making sure the bottom is level.

In a large mixing bowl, add cream cheese,

Sugar ,

Milk,

 



 

Blend until smooth.



Crack eggs and then mix in one at a time,

Mix just enough to incorporate.

Mix in sour cream,

Vanilla, 

Flour,

Mix until smooth.

Pour filling into prepared crust.

Bake in preheated oven for 1 hour.

Turn the oven off, and let cake cool in oven with the door closed for 5 to 6 hours; this prevents cracking. (That's what the recipe said - EPIC FAIL!)

Once you cool, remove the cheesecake from the pan.

Chill in refrigerator until serving.  It still tastes wonderful but doesn't look so pretty!  I was thinking of serving it with chocolate and raspberry sauce but decided to have piece first!
