Not A Lot Going On In North Dakota

Today is a day I am glad we are on a Staycation.  If we were traveling in a car it would take us over 25 hours to make it from St. Simons to North Dakota (that's without bathroom breaks)!  What I would enjoy is being in North Dakota and waking up in July to temperatures of 60 degrees.  Another thing that intrigues me about ND is the Dakota Dinosaur Museum...it houses twelve full scale dinosaurs - can you imagine how large it must be?  North Dakota is the state that grows more sunflowers than other state.  It is also home to the World's Largest Buffalo monument.  Seems like size is important to North Dakotans; however, it only the 17th largest state!

Food is not one of North Dakota's specialties.   We didn't find any foods that originated there but milk is the state beverage.  What goes better with milk than a piece of cake?  Especially when it is made with fresh GA peaches instead of ND peaches!  I know...southern girl at heart!

Peach Kuchen:

1/2 cup butter
1/4 cup white sugar

1 egg

Stir in the vanilla.

Beat in the flour mixture.

Spread dough with hands over the bottom and 1 inch up the sides of prepared spring form pan.

Slice peaches thinly,

Sprinkle with cinnamon,

Bake for 35-40 minutes or until golden brown.
