Virginia

Our travels continue and bring us to the "birthplace of a nation,"  Virginia.  It is home to the first English settlement and named after England's "Virgin Queen," Elizabeth I.  Virginia is packed with history and eight of our countries presidents were born here.  We learned that over half of the battles of the Civil War were fought in Virginia, and the American Revolution ended there...pretty important stuff!

Virginia has been dubbed the Internet Capital of the World, and is home to the only oyster museum in the world.  It is also home to the Pentagon, the largest office building in the world!  Virginia is recognized for Arlington National Cemetery and the tomb of the unknown soldier.  It is home base for the United States Navy's Atlantic Fleet.

Baked Virginia Ham and Cheese Party Rolls:

3/4 cup butter- melted
1 1/2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
1 1/2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
1 1/2 tablespoons poppy seeds
1 tablespoon dried minced onion

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.

In a bowl (or large measuring cup), add butter,

Melt in the microwave,

Add Dijon mustard,

Worcestershire sauce,

Poppy seeds,

Dried onion.

Mix well.

Separate the tops from bottoms of the rolls, and place the bottom pieces into the prepared baking dish.

Brush on about half of the butter mixture to the bottom of the rolls.

Layer about half the ham onto the rolls.

Arrange the Swiss cheese over the ham,

Top with remaining ham slices in a layer.

Place the tops of the rolls onto the sandwiches.

Pour the butter mixture evenly over the rolls.

Bake in the preheated oven until the rolls are lightly browned and the cheese has melted, about 20 minutes.

Slice into individual rolls through the ham and cheese layers to serve warm.
